Future Plans (Coming Soon)

This web site has changed and improved substantially since I started it in 2000. There are still many more improvements I would like to make and content that I want to add, but I believe that the site is headed in the right direction. The need to build revenue is important to the future of the site, but I hold to my belief that if I continue to build a great site the revenue will develop over time. The online stats and team web site programs are a successful first step in that direction.

I coached tee ball and coach pitch for 4 seasons, so before it becomes a distant memory, I'm writing a small coaching manual that will help a coach with that unique age group. I hope to have it ready by January 2005.

Palm coaching tools. I currently working on a Palm based program to help coaches track pitch count and other game and practice pitching information. This will be a great informational and teaching tool for the coach as he can track pitch count and provide feedback to the pitcher about performance. Another Palm application I would like to have ready for the 2005 season is a front-end to the team web site and stats application. This is a fairly complex product, so I'm not sure if I will be able to complete that or not, but I'm going to give it my best shot.

Continue to add drills and instructional content. The heart of the site is the content, and I want to make sure I continue to add and improve to that area of the site.

Future Plans (Coming 200?)

So what does the long term goals of the site look like? That's a good question. It seems to be changing and evolving all the time. With limited time and resources it's hard not to focus only on the to do list for each day. I think one of the most important long range goals is to develop training programs for coaches. There are many great coaching clinics, but they are often not available when needed. In addition many of those same clinics do a great job of teaching baseball skills, but don't teach the interpersonal skills that are needed to help a coach deal with players, parents, and umpires. I would like QCBaseball to be a place where coaches can come for that training. The advantage will be that the training will occur online and therefore at a convenient time and place for each coach.

I really see a need for more coaching tools designed to help coaches plan and run effective practices. I know how much time is required to prepare for each practice and I'm hoping I can provide some additional coaching materials to help. I have created practice planning worksheets that can be downloaded, but I really feel this is a first step towards what could be done to help coaches plan and prepare for practice.

Another important goal is to continue to provide coaching tools that help a coach with the time consuming tasks that come with that volunteer opportunity. The newsletter, sample parent letter, pitching and hitting charts, and the online stats program are just a few items already in place to help. Adding new coaching tools and improving existing tools is essential to the future of the site.

I have a goal of providing more inspirational material for kids and adults. I would like to write or acquire some articles on role models from the professional level down to the youth community level. Role models can provide inspiration for people who want to succeed, improve themselves, and help other people. I want QCBaseball.com to become a place where people come to be informed and inspired. I hope to get started on this soon. If you know a special person who you think is a great role model and would like to give that person some recognition, please send me an email at don@qcbaseball.com and let me know who you have in mind. The person doesn't have to be involved in baseball or even sports. It should be a person that people can read about and understand the special nature of their character and contributions.
